Science E-Mail

Dear Mom and Dad
I'm looking forward for you to come to my science fair on December 17 1:40 - 2:10

I'm working on an invention that answers the driving question: How can we save the world? I created an invention that protects people when an earthquake hits. Our designs will be set up in our classes and I will give you further information. Next week. I would like tonight to share with you what I have so far and I would like to hear your feedback on my idea. My teacher has asked me for you to send back an email with suggestions, so I can use them on my own. I appreciate your feedback.

Band: Festival Concert Reflection 2015

I am most proud of watching my classmates go out there and perform with self-confidence. Hearing them at the practices I heard them messing around talking not really paying attention and some parts were pretty choppy, but after the practiced they got it all together and sounded great.

Of all the things I learned from Dr. Robblee thoughtout festival week, The one thing that I will remember to use in my daily playing is the breath before playing to make us all stay together.

Interactive Map

I selected the environmental ares because you need to know where and how the weather is so you could determine the situation.  I also chose earth quakes, places where water tide goes hight and also places where tornados and hurricanes mostly occur.

Magnetic Plates

I think the earth core kind of turns which pulls some continents together and pulls them apart. So the seafloor follows the earth magnetic field.

  1. Where are the oldest parts of the oceans?
I Think the oldest part of the ocean is the mid atlantic ridge because it has been there since the continents started spreading.
  1. Do the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and Arctic ocean basins have the same age and patterns? No I don't think they are the same age because when the continents split water caved in therefore making it an ocean.
  1. How does the age of the ocean floor compare with the age of rocks on the continents? The rocks on the continents are a lot older than the rocks on the seafloor because of the volcanic activity new rocks are forming all the time.

Mathematical Reflections on Polygons

1. This is a polygon
1. The common properties of polygons are...
The common properties of polygons are they have to be closed, they can't intersect and they can't have any curves. Also 3D shaped can't be polygons because they have intersections.
2. The measure of degrees in an angle tells me that the angle is ...
The measure of angle tells me that it is either acute obtuse or right. Any angle that is less then 90˚ acute any angle that is more than 90˚ is obtuse and 90˚ is right
3. Some of the common angles are...
1. These are examples are shapes that can't be polygons
Some of the common angles are right angles (90˚) obtuse angles (>90˚) and acute angles (90˚>)

4. Some strategies to estimate angle measures are... Some strategies to estimate the angles are I think of a major angle close to it. Like the angle could be 85˚, but I would round it to 90˚. The main angles are 45˚ 90˚ 180˚ 360˚ etc.

5. To find accurate measurements with a protractor, I should…
To find accurate measurement with a protractor I should line up the the dot on the line and when I'm measuring I need to draw the line straight to make sure i get the correct measurement. When I am done measuring the angle I will need to double check to make sure everything was lined up correctly.
3. The one on the left is a right angle, the one in the middle is obtuse and the one on the right is an acute angle

Week 2

1. What is the difference of an inference and an observation?

An observation something that you can see touch smell etc.

An inference is an educated guess of the situation.

2.  How can inferences and observations be related?

An observation can help you find an inference, like if you observe the color of something you can put that in your indifference.

3.  Why are both observations and inferences important in science?

An observation is important in science because you have to observe what is happening and then you have to make your best guess on all the steps and in order to make an accurate guess you have to make an accurate observation.

May 2015 Band Concert Reflection

Concert Reflection for May 12, 2015

1. Did you feel well prepared for this performance, why or why not? (ie: Did you do what was expected of you leading up to the concert?)

2. What was the strongest part of our performance, and why?

3.  What was the weakest part of our performance, and why? What can we (and you) do to improve for next time?

4. On a scale from 1 to 5, (5 being the best) how would you rate the overall band students’ behavior as audience members for this concert?  Why? (no names please)

5. What was your favorite piece and why?

1. I felt very comfortable with all of the pieces, because i knew all of the notes and I was ready, because I knew the steps of the concert more that I did last time.

2. The strongest part was African Folk Trilogy, because we were the most familiar with that, because we played it last concert.

3. Our songs were good, but the weakest part was getting our instruments ready was a little bit of a problem.

4. As audience members I would rate us at 4/5, because I could still here talking, but at least people were not playing on their phones this time.

5. My favorite piece was African Folk, because since we repeated it we were very familiar with it and I personily

Band Reflection

I need to be ready and have all of my music ready to perform.

On stage I should not talk and have a conversation with my friend and also I need to pay attention to when my part is coming or something like that.

Well, I was pretty nervous so maybe next time I should practice my piece more, but still I think I had a good idea on what all the notes were.

While someone else is performing I should keep quiet and just enjoy the music.

I need to clap and the still keep quiet to not disturb everyone else.

I should let the know to stop talking or stop play games and if they try to talk to me I just should ignore them.

I talked a little between the transitions so next time I will just keep quiet.

I am really proud of my performance, because it sounded real nice ane in-sink with everybody else.

Band Refection

The Concert was really fun, it was the first time being exposed musically to the public and it inspired me to keep on going.

My favorite part about it was African Folk Trilogy all of the instrument coming together sounded really nice. I also liked the other songs like the ones that the higher grades did.

Group 1- Avery Lucie And Rachel.

Well Done- They did a good job of describing their failures.

I wish- I wish that they made it more clear on how they made all their money.

take away- I should describe my failures as good as they did.

Group 2- Tyler and Emily

Well done- They made the steps clear and easy to understand.

I wish- I wish one of my weeks was related to the primary school because if I did it at the right time it would have been successful.

Take Away- I could not really hear Emily that much, so I'm going to try to talk louder.

Group 3- Josh and Brian

Well done- It was very good how they described their process, especially the swimathon

I wish- I wish that I could have had a activity to get sponsors like they did.

take away- That you should show more of what you did.

Group 4- Tanya Victoria

Well done- Their products were very creative and well made.

I wish that our products were as organized as theirs

take away- Make sure I show my products.

Group 5- Ramon

Well done- Explained steps clearly

I wish that he could have showed us the bored game.

take away- show you item

Hailey, Izzy, Merra and Kayla

Well done- they explained how they raised awareness

Personal Finance Project

I learned that you could get more money by basically doing nothing except giving a certain amount of money to some person.

This could inspire me to loan money to people that I trust because hopefully they will give me my money back and when they do they will have to pay me an interest.

My favorite part was learning this way to make money, so it could help me in the future.

My least favorite part was documenting all of my thoughts about it.

Week 1 Water Project

I will be in Thailand for Spring break, so I will raise awareness there. Andrew (my partner) will be selling stuff in Singapore and also raising awareness in the Woodlands.

The Play

The play was all in all a very good play. I liked when they made their own ideas and changed the story a little bit, but while they sticked with the main idea and goal of the story. One thing that I did not understand is when she died how did she die and it also went a little too quickly for me to understand everything. Like I said it was a great play worth seeing.

The Global Water Crisis a crisis in which millions of people everywhere are unable to get clean water. They do HAVE to drink the extremely dirty water all the time because they can't just stop drinking water, but they can't have it as fresh and as clean as we have it.

By 2025 the planet may have about 9 billion people. Just think with that population many more people will be un-able to have clean water. Just think of what will happen after that.

Near 2 billion people can't get fresh water today.

Art

None of my photos have 5 categories.

I think this is a good example of shadows, because you can see the tape and you can clearly see the shadow. One thing that that I could do better in this picture is that the light is illuminated, next time I should not show the light.

Science

Purple=Percent
Blue=People

1. I would stay inside or away from people, or if some shots are an option I would do that.

2. My recommendation would be to wear a some sort of perfection suit if you go outside or to just stay inside.

1. Think about how the infectious disease was spread from person to person in your community. If you were trying to avoid catching the disease, what could you do? Use evidence from this activity to support your answer. 2. Imagine that you are the director of the health department in the town where the disease is spreading. It is your job to help prevent people from getting sick. Explain what you would recommend to try to prevent more people from getting infected. Make sure to give a detailed answer to these 2 questions on your blog.

Dividing Fractions.

I first wrote out the problem and then I reciprocated
the second number. So it would be 3/4 times
8/1 which equals 24/4. 24/4 reduced and is equaled to 6.

Art Project

In class we have been working on perfecting our name designs.

We made ideas and we chose our favorite.

We made circles with our names, to come up with ideas, for blending.

Then we made experimental drafts

After we made the colors and final ideas.

My favorite part of the project was coming up with the ideas.

The most challenging part was making the background, because if the background is boing then you picture could be boring.
