Tree Hugger Post

The idea of a mile high structure is very interesting.  Its goal seems to be a good one and it can about 55,000 people. This will basically be a garden to experiment with plant and it will be useful for other things too.

This seems like a great idea, but it would cost billions of dollars. Also Japan has many tsunamis and earthquakes, which could easily destroy the structure and kill tens of thousands. Also if you were to build this structure, it would be hard to place it directly above water. Frankly if this were to be successful it would help research a lot, but it just doesn't seems practical.

Cosmos Video

Of all the spacecraft humans have developed which one has traveled the furthest? Voyager 1

What are the 6 lines of our cosmic address? Earth, Solar System, Milky way Galaxy, Local Group, Virgo Super Cluster, Observable Universe.

Why were Giordano Bruno's ideas so controversial? Back in those times you were not supposed to come up with new ideas and when you did it would cause a lot of dispute.

According to the cosmic calendar how long ago did we begin to use science to reveal natures secrets and her laws?
a.  1 month
b.  1 minute
c.  1 year
d.  1 second

Science E-Mail

Dear Mom and Dad
I'm looking forward for you to come to my science fair on December 17 1:40 - 2:10

I'm working on an invention that answers the driving question: How can we save the world? I created an invention that protects people when an earthquake hits. Our designs will be set up in our classes and I will give you further information. Next week. I would like tonight to share with you what I have so far and I would like to hear your feedback on my idea. My teacher has asked me for you to send back an email with suggestions, so I can use them on my own. I appreciate your feedback.

Interactive Map

I selected the environmental ares because you need to know where and how the weather is so you could determine the situation.  I also chose earth quakes, places where water tide goes hight and also places where tornados and hurricanes mostly occur.

Magnetic Plates

I think the earth core kind of turns which pulls some continents together and pulls them apart. So the seafloor follows the earth magnetic field.

  1. Where are the oldest parts of the oceans?
I Think the oldest part of the ocean is the mid atlantic ridge because it has been there since the continents started spreading.
  1. Do the Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and Arctic ocean basins have the same age and patterns? No I don't think they are the same age because when the continents split water caved in therefore making it an ocean.
  1. How does the age of the ocean floor compare with the age of rocks on the continents? The rocks on the continents are a lot older than the rocks on the seafloor because of the volcanic activity new rocks are forming all the time.

Week 2

1. What is the difference of an inference and an observation?

An observation something that you can see touch smell etc.

An inference is an educated guess of the situation.

2.  How can inferences and observations be related?

An observation can help you find an inference, like if you observe the color of something you can put that in your indifference.

3.  Why are both observations and inferences important in science?

An observation is important in science because you have to observe what is happening and then you have to make your best guess on all the steps and in order to make an accurate guess you have to make an accurate observation.
